Caloundra

During your Caloundra holiday you will be surrounded by a laid back atmosphere, an excellent selection of stunning patrolled beaches, and the sounds of laughter and enjoyment from your family that create memories of a lifetime.

Once a quaint beach town, Caloundra is now a thoroughly popular destination among couples, groups of friends and families alike. One of the highlights of the region is the variety of beaches; Dicky Beach, Kings Beach, Shelly Beach, Golden Beach, Moffat Beach, and Bulcock Beaches each have their own unique allure but golden sand, blue waters, and smiling faces are guaranteed.

The shipwrecked Dicky Beach named after the S.S. Dicky that ran ashore and remains there to this day (in somewhat smaller quantities than most expect) is quite popular as is the famous Kings Beach, often quite busy during peak season and for good reason! The experience begins with a wet play area for kids fitted with a time delayed water fountain that surprises the little nippers every time once the kids have had their fill they have their choice of a free swimming pool and the beautiful beach.

Always family-friendly Caloundra has many calm inlets and lakes with gentle or non-existent currents and plenty of kids playgrounds surrounded by grassy areas for games all of which have views of the ancient Glass House Mountains or glistening Pacific Ocean.

For a taste of the endemic flora and fauna the Headland Walkway is a lovely stroll from Moffat Beach to Kings Beach offering fantastic views over Caloundra out to the Pacific and inland over the Glass House Mountains. You will also pass bronze plaques dedicated to soldiers, the ANZAC memorial, and plenty of wildlife making for excellent photo opportunities.

Pumicestone Passage is a great place to throw a rod in the water as it is the passage separating Bribie Island from the mainland and is said to be littered with sea life. Currimundi Lake is another superb fishing hole that also doubles as relaxing and patrolled swimming area until the lake meets the surf as this causes strong currents, especially when the tide is changing.

Caloundra accommodation ranges considerably and caters for many markets, the Oaks Oasis resort is located walking distance from Golden Beach, has an excellent water park and is very family friendly. The 5 star Rumba Resort is situated on Bulcock Beach just behind the waterfront boardwalk and has redefined premium accommodation in Caloundra.
